Absolutely loved it, especially all the pools, pity there was work going on in the middle of pools.. loved the ice baths to also weather was lovely, BUT you need to ask the staff there to go on a training course for customer service there attitude towards customers are applauding and disrespectful. That would not happen here in Liverpool we paid a lot of money to go on holiday and for different activities m, if they treat people like this they should not be in this line of work. Hopefully you will be able to rectify this and put them on a training course soon

The reservation with Headout was no problem. We went in and everything we booked was included. Széchenyi Spa was a disappointment. Too many people and the outside pools were separated by a tarp (perhaps construction work) which made it look bad. I regret having opted for this spa. I am sure any other in Budapest would have been a more pleasant experience. I will be back

Amazing place - I've not been to a thermal bath before and this was a great experience. It was being refurbished so one of the pools was currently closed. Perhaps at £30 for basic entry a little expensive but you could stay all day. If you want to Would recommend a visit.

A great day out and once in a lifetime experience, however the main pool is closed for refurbishment (as you can see on the right of the photograph, there was scaffolding all round it) which we had not been told about. We would've chosen a different experience had we known. Was a bit disappointing.

Although the actual baths were awesome there were some points that needed to be made. The biggest one obviously is the elephant in the room which is that nearly half the outside area is totally unavailable as the central swimming zone is being repaired and was covered by tarpaulin of some sort which was really ugly. I think this inconvenience should be reflected in some sort of a discount on the price. It was also exceptionally busy at the weekend but apart from these two issues it was undoubtedly a once in a lifetime experience which I would highly recommend.

The truth is that everything has been easy. From the purchase process, follow-up and communication. The thermal baths of Gellert we have fallen in love with super quiet and very complete. It transports you to the 19th century and you leave there refreshed. The boat is also a marvel, at 20.30 it is not yet night and it is the return when you start to see it all illuminated. The parliament is something magical, day and night.

Very good but not great. The baths are considered the most luxurious, but I think you have to understand by the: historical. The place is beautiful but needs major renovation. If you've forgotten your equipment, it's possible to buy it all on site. The cabins are very practical for leaving personal belongings. The pools are top-notch, especially the 40-degree pool. Beware, this is a mixed area. The outdoor pool was crowded. Good experience, but not exceptional. I'd recommend it!

The building and the spa are really great. The architecture, the ambience, the pools. Overall it was very crowded, which firstly made it very noisy and secondly there was a lack of loungers to rest and relax. In addition, the outdoor pool was not open and the staff were simply unfriendly. A great pity. Important: Take a swimming cap with you or alternatively be prepared to buy one in the spa store at the entrance. Bathing caps must be worn in the swimming pool, not in the thermal pools!

We really liked the bathrooms and especially the cleanliness. Also note that although there were many people it was good and the only thing I did not like was that being a place of relaxation people do not respect it much and I think that either lack of security personnel inside or it escapes them a little. I totally recommend it.

The thermal pools are great, there are different pools with different temperatures. The main pool requires you to wear swincap, the others don't. The "cabin" is really just a cubicle ideal for a single person to change in - perfectly functional. The warm pools are quite relaxing and enjoyable.

Here’s a review you could use to rate your experience at Gellért Spa Bath in Budapest. Feel free to adjust the tone or content depending on where you're posting it: --- I had high expectations for my visit to Gellért Spa Bath, but unfortunately, it fell short in several areas. I was under the impression that there would be a guided tour or at least some kind of audio guide, but there was none, which made the experience feel less immersive and informative than I hoped. I also expected to spend more time there, but ended up leaving after just an hour or two. The outdoor pools were limited—only two were open—and one was extremely small and overcrowded. The larger indoor pool looked great, but swimming was only allowed if you had a swim cap, which I assumed was included in the ticket (I had purchased one with a private cabin and locker). Instead, I had to buy it separately, which felt frustrating and unnecessary. Staff were not particularly friendly or helpful. They mostly communicated with whistles and gave no clear explanations, which made the atmosphere feel more tense than relaxing. Overall, the building themselves are beautiful, but the overall experience left a lot to be desired—especially for the price.

We purchased the thermal bath/boat package. I will start by saying that both experiences are worth having in a wonderful city like Budapest. The thermal baths are a relaxing oasis in which to unwind (I even fell asleep a bit in the pools); the boat ride is also a beautiful experience. The only negative note is the control of the staff inside the boat itself. If there are seats you sit down or at any rate, if you want to be outside in the cooler, you make sure not to block the view of those who have decided to be inside. Either way, definitely do both experiences.

The good points: the private cabin system is highly appreciated, plus they're made of wood with a lot of character. The old part of the building, with its magnificent dome and subdued lights of different colors, is very pleasant and typical. Cleanliness is acceptable. You need to go early in the morning, as it's very crowded. Weak points The welcome is not warm, and you have to insist on asking for explanations. The modern part is nice, but it's nothing different from other similar places.

The tour, although it is only for the 4th floor, is very nice and gives us some history of the town and its main building. We had a hard time finding the guide but finally managed. You don't have to enter the lobby where you get tickets to enter the museum and palace but outside the palace itself, in the square just outside the revolving door on the city side, not the Danube side. Courteous Manuel and colleague to call us by phone. Eventually visit done!

We followed a guard with the audio guide for the French translation. The text gives all the details of the rooms we pass through, but is concise enough not to lose the viewer. From the staircase to the press room, where all the trades are represented thanks to the statuettes that adorn the top of the walls, from the corridors to the hemicycle room where the European representatives sit, the Parliament is Hungary's real treasure.

It was a lovely relaxing place even though it seemed so so busy! Lots of choice of pools and the warm baths were heaven! Lots of sunbeds to chill out and reasonable priced drinks and food. Very well attended by staff and very clean in all areas. Had a wonderful day here. Queue waiting for the prepaid tickets was extremely long but moved at a decent pace. We only had about 4ims waiting and that was at 230pm. Definitely prepay though and plan to get there early if you don't want queue. Otherwise have patience and you'll still get in with plenty of choice of beds and pools

Nobody inside the spa knew how and where to redeem the tasting and the information was not available on the ticket - they just kept sending us from one person to the other, but none of them had a clue. We ended up paying but not being able to use the service - I would like a refund. Also, it should have been mentioned that the biggest middle pool is closed for renovations until the end of June - we would have booked another spa instead of here between scaffolding and teo crowded small pools. Hygiene is also questionable, people were blowing their noses into the water, there were beer cups and cans everywhere, the water smelled very strongly like chlorine. The only positive was the beauty of the building and the water temperature.

Sevwerely dissapointed that the main outdoor swimming pool was closed and the outside beauty completely spoiled by contrstction plastic sheeting. Fees should be 50% is you are not providing what is advertised and wer go for the beauty of the buildings not plastic - No VIP showers and we are paying for VIP... all in all dissapointing to pay VIP to get nothing except a lounge zone..... with a service that would not even swop tea for a cup of coffee... fruit in plastic dish. Quick, pleasant welcome, retro cabins, pleasant baths with different temperatures. The only hitch was that the main bath was closed for major renovations and would be closed for many months, so it was a bit disappointing not to have known about it beforehand. If we had to do it all over again, we wouldn't take the fruit and cocktail option, as the whole thing wasn't very good.

  • Summer (June-August) and winter holidays (December-January) are the busiest times at Budapest Baths, while spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) see fewer visitors.
  • Weekdays, early mornings (before 9am), and late evenings are the quietest times to visit. Popular baths like Széchenyi Baths and Gellért Baths can have 30-60 minute queues during peak seasons, so arriving early, visiting late, or choosing fast-track tickets helps you avoid the crowds at the entrance.
  • All Budapest Baths provide lockers (shared changing areas) or private cabins (individual changing rooms). Cabins offer more privacy, ideal for couples or solo travelers.
  • Most tickets grant full-day access to pools, saunas, and steam rooms. Additional services like massages or beer spas require separate bookings and fees.
  • All combo tickets allow you to split the experiences across different days, so you can fully relax at the baths on one day and visit the next attraction on another, maximizing your experiences while saving money.
  • Rudas Baths has gender-specific days (Men-only Monday/Wednesday-Friday mornings, Women-only Tuesdays). Co-ed access is available Thursday-Sunday. Other baths are co-ed daily.
  • Popular tickets like Széchenyi Spa tickets, Rudas Baths tickets, and Sparty tickets often sell out quickly. Book at least 3-4 weeks in advance to secure your preferred date and time, especially for weekends and holidays.
  • Children under a certain age (typically 10-14) may not be allowed in some pools or areas such as saunas, steam rooms, plunge pools, or indoor thermal pools. Consult a doctor if you have heart conditions or pregnancy concerns, as hot pools (above 100°F) may pose risks.
  • Many baths are wheelchair accessible, but it's advisable to check specific facilities in advance.

It's where morning swims, chess games in steaming pools, and even weekend parties happen. For visitors, it's a chance to experience Hungarian life in its most authentic and relaxed form.

Architectural splendor: From Baroque to Ottoman

Each of Budapest’s bathhouses is also an architectural masterpiece. Szechenyi Baths stun with its Neo-Baroque grandeur, Gellert Baths charms with its Art Nouveau mosaics and stained glass, while Rudas showcases Ottoman-era domes and arches. Visiting these bathhouses is as much a cultural experience as it is a wellness one.

A spa day for every style and budget

Whether you're after a luxurious day of pampering in an Art Nouveau palace or a budget-friendly soak with locals, Budapest has a bath that fits. With prices starting at just a few euros, and options ranging from basic entry to private cabins, massages, and rooftop tubs, the city offers all kinds of bathing and spa experiences.

A year-round experience

Budapest’s baths are open throughout the year and offer a different kind of magic in every season. Winter brings snow-dusted rooftops and steaming outdoor pools, while summer offers sunbathing areas and refreshing pools. Whether it’s hot or cold outside, the thermal waters remain inviting and healing.

Experience centuries old bathing culture

The history of Budapest’s thermal baths stretches back over 2,000 years, beginning with the Romans who built elaborate bathhouses in ancient Aquincum. The Ottomans later introduced Turkish-style baths, enriching the city’s bathing culture. By the 19th and 20th centuries, grand bathhouses like Széchenyi and Gellért emerged, cementing Budapest’s reputation as Europe’s spa capital.
